The Big Move !

After 2 years of working from my parents address (forever grateful for the start this gave me), I am so so pleased to say I am all settled in the new unit. The move was seamless, I spent the whole of January preparing for the move and then officially started working from the unit on the 3rd of February 2025, the same day my little pod left for its new adventure up t'north! It was a bittersweet moment watching the pod I had worked so hard to upgrade to (from my little trailer - those who have been with me since those days are the real OG's!), be picked up by a crane and leave a big gap. A gap which still makes me feel emotional when I visit my parents at weekends. It was a big sacrifice deciding to move to Tadlow, I was so comfortable where I was, I had regular clients and got to see my parents each day. However I have always known I would never feel fulfilled until I had pushed myself to my full potential, and playing it safe from my parents drive would have meant continuing a long commute every day - which impacts my home life balance but also would mean I would never be able to grow and eventually have some support and be a part of a team.
The new location is situated in a great spot, on a main road linking Biggleswade to Royston. I have always been a groomer people travelled for, where I was before I would have clients travel 25-40 mins to work with me - especially once the lovely Sam at Margaux's in Hertford started recommending me to clients. I will always be thankful to Sam for recognising my little business as a trustworthy place to refer her customers to when they asked her for recommendations, a huge compliment as her beautiful shop attracts true dog lovers who clearly really appreciate style and luxury along with the best treatment for their much loved furry family members. With this move (I am around 25 mins drive from my original location) I really wasn't sure who would stay with me and who wouldn't, it was a complete leap of faith! I can honestly say there have been some clients who have surprised me in the best way and now travel even further to continue bringing their dogs for their grooms and it hasn't gone unnoticed and I am so so grateful for those who continue to support my business, without you making the effort to come out to me I would have had a much rougher ride with the move. Not only financially but emotionally it is so hard to say goodbye to dogs I have worked so hard on over the years, whether to help them gain confidence or just knowing how hard I work to keep things consistent for their dog.
Since the move I have met some lovely new faces, from local villages such as Dunton, Westlingworth, Steeple Morden and the larger towns such as Potton and Biggleswade which has been lovely. The move was much easier for clients who lives in the Royston area as it is probably a more straight forward journey from there.
I have poured everything I have into this move, financially and mentally. Everything I have learnt since being self employed (10 years this year!!!) has all come together. I have adapted the space to be calm, inviting, adaptable, open and functional. After working in other salons / my own trailer which was tiny and then my small pod, the space I have now is such a luxury!
I will end this first blog with a thank you to every client who continues to work with me after this move, every business who has recommended me to new clients and every new client who has entrusted me with their dog. This has felt like an easy transition because I knew what I wanted for my clients and that is the very best, as you and your dogs deserve it !
Thank you for reading and I will put updates out as often as I can.
